Ways To Volunteer

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways that you can help to make wishes come true for San Diego and Imperial County children battling life threatening illnesses.

  1. Wish Granters work directly with our wish children, in a team of two, to ascertain and plan wishes. You will also be required to work creatively to obtain in-kind good and services, in order to enhance the wish experience. (Additional training required)
  2. Wish Ambassadors tell our story at a variety of functions and assemblies. We provide the information and our volunteers provide the passion to describe the power of a wish come true. MAW Ambassadors address social and professional groups, federal/state employees and students to name a few.
  3. Wish Greeters welcome wish children and their families to San Diego for their wish of a lifetime. Volunteers with flexible schedules provide an incredible service to the children by greeting them at the airport, assisting with car rental and escorting them to their hotel. Each “meet and greet” volunteer has the thrill of launching wishes to visit the many wonderful San Diego sites.
  4. Wish Magicians support the granting of wishes through fundraising, special events, and office operations. Specific areas include:
  • Special Events Volunteers help us plan our major fundraising events by serving on committees and assisting with event operations. Volunteer jobs range from acquiring auction items, to recruiting Walk For Wishes teams, to working registration at a fundraiser.
  • Acquisitions Volunteers support our fundraising efforts by helping us secure cash and in-kind donations.
  • 3c Committee Volunteers support the efforts of our young professionals group by volunteering at 3c events and helping to promote 3c activities.
  • Office Support Volunteers provide administrative support by volunteering to assist in the Make-A-Wish Office.
  • Do you have a special skill or talent, such as graphic design or photography? Let us know if you have a skill that you’d like to donate to the Foundation.
