Application Process

Becoming a volunteer

  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Attend an orientation meeting. Orientation meetings are typically scheduled every 2-3 months. You will learn more about the history of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, our volunteer opportunities and how to become a volunteer. For more information contact Stefanie Munoz at (858) 707-9470 x103.
  • Complete a volunteer application. Applications will be handed out at the volunteer orientation meeting. Please complete the application form, including two personal references, Livescan fingerprint and a signed conflict of interest statement. Next, turn in your completed application along with your fingerprints.
  • Attend an interview. Once your application has been successfully screened, you will be invited for an interview. The interview is our chance to get to know your skills, abilities and desires so that we can match you with an appropriate volunteer position.
  • Join our team & obtain a Make-A-Wish ID badge. If everything goes well, you will join our team as a new volunteer. Some volunteer positions require additional training. We will provide you with a Make-A-Wish identification badge and assign you to a volunteer position.
