Gershon at Yankee Stadium - web“I wish to visit MLB ballparks”

Gershon, age 10

Like any 10-year-old boy, Gershon is a sports fanatic.  He is a subscriber to Sporting News Magazine, reads the sports section everyday, and can tell you just about any statistic or fact about any player, on any team, in any sport.  He loves watching Chargers Football, Kobe Bryant dominate with the Lakers, Roger Federer’s exceptional agility and speed in tennis, and David Beckham triumph in soccer.  However, Gershon’s favorite sport and hobby has always been watching Major League Baseball.

Gershon is battling a congenital heart disease, and throughout his life he has undergone numerous surgeries. Gershon faces his challenges with undeniable strength and courage. He will proudly show anybody his scars, and he would rather be on the sideline at any game than not be there at all.  So, when given the opportunity of a lifetime, it was no surprise when Gershon told his wish granters that his dream was to visit MLB ballparks.

Gershon’s “MLB Tour” took place in August 2010, when he traveled across the nation to visit not one, but three of the biggest, most famous, and world-renowned ballparks – Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, and Yankee Stadium. He attended games at each – Chicago Cubs vs. his home-town Padres, New York Yankees vs. Tigers, and Boston Red Sox vs. Blue Jays.  “It was SO exciting to get to cheer on all my favorite teams at some of the coolest ball parks in the country!” says Gershon.
