Courntey2-web“I wish to have a backyard play structure”

Courtney, age 3

Wish Adopted by: Morton’s The Steakhouse

Courtney loves to play, swing, and climb, and doesn’t want her illness to get in the way. Diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, Courtney spends many days at home, unable to go out very often or to be around other children.

Her wish for a play structure brought the childhood world of play and fun to her own backyard. On the day of her wish, she and her parents, Jamie and Mark, were whisked off to Sea World in a limo for a special day of VIP treatment at the park, while our wish team busily worked to transform her yard and assemble her state-of-the-art play structure. For Courtney, San Diego Backyard Adventures customized their “Titan Treehouse” model with monkey bars, swing, trapeze and “turbo” spiral slide.

The smile on Courtney’s face as she arrived home, with her head popping out of the moon roof in the limo, seeing her play structure for the first time, was priceless. She leaped from the limo and spent the afternoon hopping from one play station to another, gaining confidence in her abilities to swing, climb and balance, stopping for a quick sip of pretend tea every now and then at her special princess tea party table!

Courtney’s wish gave the entire family something positive to focus on during a time of great sadness: A few weeks before her wish day, Courtney’s beloved grandmother passed away. It was truly a magical day for Courtney, and a wonderful time for the family to come together.
