“I wish to attend Stand Up To Cancer”
Alexis, age 18
Wish Adopted by: San Diego County Credit Union
18-year-old Alexis is proud to be a cancer survivor. The big scar running up her leg is an emblem of her battle against bone cancer, which began in 2008.
Although she was forced to miss lots of school, and activities with friends and family, Alexis says her bout with cancer gave her a new purpose. Her crusading spirit shaped her wish choice – she asked to attend the “Stand Up To Cancer” telethon in Los Angeles.
Alexis, her sisters, mother and grandmother were all taken by limo to L.A., where she got to walk the red carpet, hang out with celebrities and answer the calls of donors making pledges. Alexis recalls her experience as “a powerful feeling to be making a difference.” And she intends to continue making a difference as a doctor someday, treating kids with cancer!
